My TIIDELab Fellowship Experience 2.0: Second Month

What My Second Month Entailed

Unlike before My Tiidelab 1.0 where I wondered like a compassless Nomad, well guess what, things aren't the same anymore. Here's a breakdown of My TiideLab 2.0

The journey so far has been nothing short of remarkable. I'm excited to share the highlights of my experience, where I delved into Design Thinking methodologies, UI/UX design, and an introduction to JavaScript, all packed into one intense and fulfilling month.

First Week --> Second Week

UI/UX and Design Thinking Methodologies

Design Thinking Methodologies Our journey into the world of Design Thinking methodologies was an eye-opener. Dr. Hamzat Adejoke Temitope took us through an amazing journey. Her emphasis on Empathy, Defining, Ideation, Rapid Prototyping and Testing as essential tools for creative problem-solving was an invaluable lesson. We learned how to approach complex challenges with a user-centric mindset, enabling problems into tangible, user-friendly solutions.

UI/UX Parallel to our exploration of Design Thinking, we dived into User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design. Mr. Abdulmuizz made us understand the art of crafting designs that not only look visually appealing but also prioritize user satisfaction and ease of interaction. We honed our skills in creating interactive prototypes and wireframes for various scenarios using Figma, adding depth to our design toolbox.

Can you guess what Fridays are for?

Well, this is where our program director Mr. Aderoju Shamsudeen takes us through the Professional Development Class. The value and impact of the class are immeasurable owing to the fact that we would be working with humans, so it's important we harness those soft skills as well.

Third Week --> Fourth Week

Introduction to JavaScript

Simultaneously, we embarked on our journey into the world of JavaScript. Mr. Kenny In just one month, covered with us some very important coding concepts. Starting with the fundamentals of variables, data types, Statements, functions, and Array. The transition from design thinking to coding was a challenging yet rewarding one. It highlighted the synergy between design and development in creating outstanding web applications.

Through practical coding exercises and project work, we were able to solidify our understanding of JavaScript. Witnessing how this powerful language can be harnessed to build dynamic and interactive web applications was a biggie.
